Τί οὖν τὸ περισσὸν τοῦ Ἰουδαίου\, ἢ τίς ἡ ὠφέλεια τῆς περιτομῆς; Πολὺ κατὰ πάντα τρόπον· πρῶτον μὲν γὰρ ὅτι ἐπιστεύθησαν τὰ λόγια τοῦ θεοῦ. Τί γὰρ εἰ ἠπίστησάν τινες; Μὴ ἡ ἀπιστία αὐτῶν τὴν πίστιν τοῦ θεοῦ καταργήσει; Μὴ γένοιτο· γινέσθω δὲ ὁ θεὸς ἀληθής\, πᾶς δὲ ἄνθρωπος ψεύστης\, καθὼς γέγραπται\, Ὅπως ἂν δικαιωθῇς ἐν τοῖς λόγοις σου\, καὶ νικήσῃς ἐν τῷ κρίνεσθαί σε. Εἰ δὲ ἡ ἀδικία ἡμῶν θεοῦ δικαιοσύνην συνίστησιν\, τί ἐροῦμεν; Μὴ ἄδικος ὁ θεὸς ὁ ἐπιφέρων τὴν ὀργήν; – κατὰ ἄνθρωπον λέγω – Μὴ γένοιτο· ἐπεὶ πῶς κρινεῖ ὁ θεὸς τὸν κόσμον; Εἰ γὰρ ἡ ἀλήθεια τοῦ θεοῦ ἐν τῷ ἐμῷ ψεύσματι ἐπερίσσευσεν εἰς τὴν δόξαν αὐτοῦ\, τί ἔτι κἀγὼ ὡς ἁμαρτωλὸς κρίνομαι; Καὶ μή – καθὼς βλασφημούμεθα\, καὶ καθώς φασίν τινες ἡμᾶς λέγειν – ὅτι Ποιήσωμεν τὰ κακὰ ἵνα ἔλθῃ τὰ ἀγαθά; Ὧν τὸ κρίμα ἔνδικόν ἐστιν. Τί οὖν; Προεχόμεθα; Οὐ πάντως· προῃτιασάμεθα γὰρ Ἰουδαίους τε καὶ Ἕλληνας πάντας ὑφʼ ἁμαρτίαν εἶναι\, καθὼς γέγραπται ὅτι Οὐκ ἔστιν δίκαιος οὐδὲ εἷς· οὐκ ἔστιν ὁ συνιῶν\, οὐκ ἔστιν ὁ ἐκζητῶν τὸν θεόν· πάντες ἐξέκλιναν\, ἅμα ἠχρειώθησαν· οὐκ ἔστιν ποιῶν χρηστότητα\, οὐκ ἔστιν ἕως ἑνός· τάφος ἀνεῳγμένος ὁ λάρυγξ αὐτῶν\, ταῖς γλώσσαις αὐτῶν ἐδολιοῦσαν· ἰὸς ἀσπίδων ὑπὸ τὰ χείλη αὐτῶν· ὧν τὸ στόμα ἀρᾶς καὶ πικρίας γέμει· ὀξεῖς οἱ πόδες αὐτῶν ἐκχέαι αἷμα· σύντριμμα καὶ ταλαιπωρία ἐν ταῖς ὁδοῖς αὐτῶν\, καὶ ὁδὸν εἰρήνης οὐκ ἔγνωσαν· οὐκ ἔστιν φόβος θεοῦ ἀπέναντι τῶν ὀφθαλμῶν αὐτῶν.\nἈνάγνωσις Εὐαγγελίου: Κατὰ Ματθαῖον  6:31-34\, 7:9-11\nΕἶπεν ὁ Κύριος· Μὴ οὖν μεριμνήσητε λέγοντες\, τί φάγωμεν ἢ τί πίωμεν ἢ τί περιβαλώμεθα; πάντα γὰρ ταῦτα τὰ ἔθνη ἐπιζητεῖ· οἶδε γὰρ ὁ πατὴρ ὑμῶν ὁ οὐράνιος ὅτι χρῄζετε τούτων ἁπάντων. ζητεῖτε δὲ πρῶτον τὴν βασιλείαν τοῦ Θεοῦ καὶ τὴν δικαιοσύνην αὐτοῦ\, καὶ ταῦτα πάντα προστεθήσεται ὑμῖν. Μὴ οὖν μεριμνήσητε εἰς τὴν αὔριον· ἡ γὰρ αὔριον μεριμνήσει τὰ ἑαυτῆς· ἀρκετὸν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἡ κακία αὐτῆς. ἢ τίς ἐστιν ἐξ ὑμῶν ἄνθρωπος\, ὃν ἐὰν αἰτήσῃ ὁ υἱὸς αὐτοῦ ἄρτον\, μὴ λίθον ἐπιδώσει αὐτῷ; καὶ ἐὰν ἰχθὺν αἰτήσῃ\, μὴ ὄφιν ἐπιδώσει αὐτῷ; εἰ οὗν ὑμεῖς\, πονηροὶ ὄντες\, οἴδατε δόματα ἀγαθὰ διδόναι τοῖς τέκνοις ὑμῶν\, πόσῳ μᾶλλον ὁ πατὴρ ὑμῶν ὁ ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς δώσει ἀγαθὰ τοῖς αἰτοῦσιν αὐτόν;

DESCRIPTION:Saints\, Feasts\, and Readings for 06/16/2025\nSaints and Feasts: Tychon the Wonderworker; 40 Martyrs of Rome; Mark the Just of Apollonia\nFast Day (Fish Allowed)\nEpistle Reading: Romans 2:28-29;3:1-18\nBrethren\, he is not a real Jew who is one outwardly\, nor is true circumcision something external and physical. He is a Jew who is one inwardly\, and real circumcision is a matter of the heart\, spiritual and not literal. His praise is not from men but from God. Then what advantage has the Jew? Or what is the value of circumcision? Much in every way. To begin with\, the Jews are entrusted with the oracles of God. What if some were unfaithful? Does their faithlessness nullify the faithfulness of God? By no means! Let God be true though every man be false\, as it is written\, “That thou mayest be justified in thy words\, and prevail when thou art judged.” But if our wickedness serves to show the justice of God\, what shall we say? That God is unjust to inflict wrath on us? (I speak in a human way.) By no means! For then how could God judge the world? But if through my falsehood God’s truthfulness abounds to his glory\, why am I still being condemned as a sinner? And why not do evil that good may come? – as some people slanderously charge us with saying. Their condemnation is just. What then? Are we Jews any better off? No\, not at all; for we have already charged that all men\, both Jews and Greeks\, are under the power of sin\, as it is written:\n“None is righteous\, no\, not one; no one understands\, no one seeks for God. All have turned aside\, together they have gone wrong; no one does good\, not even one.”\n“Their throat is an open grave\, they use their tongues to deceive.”\n“The venom of asps is under their lips.”\n“Their mouth is full of curses and bitterness.”\n“Their feet are swift to shed blood\, in their paths are ruin and misery\, and the way of peace they do not know.” \n“There is no fear of God before their eyes.”\nGospel Reading: Matthew 6:31-34; 7:9-11\nThe Lord said\, “Do not be anxious\, saying\, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek all these things; and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness\, and all these things shall be yours as well. Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow\, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Let the day’s own trouble be sufficient for the day. Or what man of you\, if his son asks him for bread\, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish\, will give him a serpent? If you then\, who are evil\, know how to give good gifts to your children\, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!”
