SUMMARY:4th Sunday of Matthew
DESCRIPTION:Saints\, Feasts\, and Readings for 07/06/2025\nSaints and Feasts: 4th Sunday of Matthew; Sisoes the Great; Holy Apostles Archippus\, Philemon and Onesimus; Loukia the Virgin-martyr\, Rixios and the 24 Companion Martyrs; Juliana the Virgin-martyr\nMatins Gospel Reading: Luke 24:1-12\nOn the first day of the week at early dawn\, the women went to the tomb\, taking spices\, which they had prepared. And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb\, but when they went in they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were perplexed about this\, behold\, two men stood by them in dazzling apparel; and as they were frightened and bowed their faces to the ground\, the men said to them\, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here\, but has risen. Remember how He told you\, while He was still in Galilee\, that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men\, and be crucified\, and on the third day rise.” And they remembered His words and returning from the tomb they told all this to the eleven and to all the rest. Now it was Mary Magdalene and Joanna and Mary the mother of James and the other women with them who told this to the Apostles; but these words seemed to them an idle tale\, and they did not believe them. But Peter rose and ran to the tomb; stooping and looking in\, he saw the linen cloths by themselves; and he went home wondering at what had happened.\nEpistle Reading: Romans 6:18-23\nBrethren\, having been set free from sin\, you have become slaves of righteousness. I am speaking in human terms\, because of your natural limitations. For just as you once yielded your members to impurity and to greater and greater iniquity\, so now yield your members to righteousness for sanctification.\nWhen you were slaves of sin\, you were free in regard to righteousness. But then what return did you get from the things of which you are now ashamed? The end of those things is death. But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God\, the return you get is sanctification and its end\, eternal life. For the wages of sin is death\, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.\nGospel Reading: Matthew 8:5-13\nAt that time\, as Jesus entered Capernaum\, a centurion came forward to him\, beseeching him and saying\, “Lord\, my servant is lying paralyzed at home\, in terrible distress.” And he said to him\, “I will come and heal him.” But the centurion answered him\, “Lord\, I am not worthy to have you come under my roof; but only say the word\, and my servant will be healed. For I am a man under authority\, with soldiers under me; and I say to one\, ‘Go\,’ and he goes\, and to another\, ‘Come\,’ and he comes\, and to my slave\, ‘Do this\,’ and he does it.” When Jesus heard him\, he marveled\, and said to those who followed him\, “Truly\, I say to you\, not even in Israel have I found such faith. I tell you\, many will come from east and west and sit at table with Abraham\, Isaac\, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven\, while the sons of the kingdom will be thrown into the outer darkness; there men will weep and gnash their teeth.” And to the centurion Jesus said\, “Go; be it done for you as you have believed.” And the servant was healed at that very moment.

SUMMARY:Athanasius of Mount Athos
DESCRIPTION:Saints\, Feasts\, and Readings for 07/05/2025\nSaints and Feasts: Athanasius of Mount Athos; Righteous Father Lampadus the Wonderworker; Kyprianos the New Martyr of Koutloumousiou Monastery; Uncovering of the Holy Relics of Our Righteous Father Sergius of Radonezh\nEpistle Reading: Galatians 5:22-26;6:1-2\nBrethren\, the fruit of the Spirit is love\, joy\, peace\, patience\, kindness\, goodness\, faithfulness\, gentleness\, self-control; against such there is no law. And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit\, let us also walk by the Spirit. Let us have no self-conceit\, no provoking of one another\, no envy of one another. Brethren\, if a man is overtaken in any trespass\, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Look to yourself\, lest you too be tempted. Bear one another’s burdens\, and so fulfill the law of Christ.\nGospel Reading: Matthew 11:27-30\nThe Lord said to his disciples\, “All things have been delivered to me by my Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father\, and no one knows the Father except the Son and any one to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. Come to me\, all who labor and are heavy laden\, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you\, and learn from me; for I am gentle and lowly in heart\, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy\, and my burden is light.”

SUMMARY:☦️ Andrew of Crete Author of the Great Canon
DESCRIPTION:Saints\, Feasts\, and Readings for 07/04/2025\nSaints and Feasts: Andrew of Crete Author of the Great Canon; Martha\, mother of St. Symeon Stylites the Younger; Asclepias the Wonderworker; Michael Choniates\, Metropolitan of Athens\nStrict Fast\nEpistle Reading: Romans 11:25-36\nBrethren\, lest you be wise in your own conceits\, I want you to understand this mystery: a hardening has come upon part of Israel\, until the full number of Gentiles come in\, and so all Israel will be saved; as it is written\, “The Deliverer will come from Zion\, he will banish ungodliness from Jacob”; “and this will be my covenant with them when I take away their sins.” As regards the gospel they are enemies of God\, for your sake; but as regards election they are beloved for the sake of their forefathers. For the gifts and the call of God are irrevocable. Just as you were once disobedient to God but now have received mercy because of their disobedience\, so they have now been disobedient in order that by the mercy shown to you they also may receive mercy. For God has consigned all men to disobedience\, that he may have mercy upon all. O the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways! “For who has known the mind of the Lord\, or who has been his counselor?” “Or who has given a gift to him that he might be repaid?” For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory for ever. Amen.\nGospel Reading: Matthew 12:1-8\nAt that time\, Jesus went through the grain fields on the sabbath; his disciples were hungry\, and they began to pluck heads of grain and to eat. But when the Pharisees saw it\, they said to him\, “Look\, your disciples are doing what is not lawful to do on the sabbath.” He said to them\, “Have you not read what David did\, when he was hungry\, and those who were with him: how he entered the house of God and ate the bread of the Presence\, which it was not lawful for him to eat nor for those who were with him\, but only for the priests? Or have you not read in the law how on the sabbath the priests in the temple profane the sabbath\, and are guiltless? I tell you\, something greater than the temple is here. And if you had known what this means\, ‘I desire mercy\, and not sacrifice\,’ you would not have condemned the guiltless. For the Son of man is lord of the sabbath.”

DESCRIPTION:Saints\, Feasts\, and Readings for 07/03/2025\nSaints and Feasts: Hyacinth the Martyr of Caesarea & Theodotos and Theodota the Martyrs; Anatolius\, Patriarch of Constantinople; Gerasimos the Holy Martyr of Karenesi; Translation of the Holy Relics of our Father Among the Saints Philip\, Metropolitan of Moscow\nEpistle Reading: Romans 11:13-24\nBrethren\, I am speaking to you Gentiles. Inasmuch then as I am an apostle to the Gentiles\, I magnify my ministry in order to make my fellow Jews jealous\, and thus save some of them. For if their rejection means the reconciliation of the world\, what will their acceptance mean but life from the dead? If the dough offered as first fruits is holy\, so is the whole lump; and if the root is holy\, so are the branches. But if some of the branches were broken off\, and you\, a wild olive shoot\, were grafted in their place to share the richness of the olive tree\, do not boast over the branches. If you do boast\, remember it is not you that support the root\, but the root that supports you. You will say\, “Branches were broken off so that I might be grafted in.” That is true. They were broken off because of their unbelief\, but you stand fast only through faith. So do not become proud\, but stand in awe. For if God did not spare the natural branches\, neither will he spare you. Note then the kindness and the severity of God: severity toward those who have fallen\, but God’s kindness to you\, provided you continue in his kindness; otherwise you too will be cut off. And even the others\, if they do not persist in their unbelief\, will be grafted in\, for God has the power to graft them in again. For if you have been cut from what is by nature a wild olive tree\, and grafted\, contrary to nature\, into a cultivated olive tree\, how much more will these natural branches be grafted back into their own olive tree.\nGospel Reading: Matthew 11:27-30\nThe Lord said to his disciples\, “All things have been delivered to me by my Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father\, and no one knows the Father except the Son and any one to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. Come to me\, all who labor and are heavy laden\, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you\, and learn from me; for I am gentle and lowly in heart\, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy\, and my burden is light.”

SUMMARY:🍇 Deposition of the Precious Robe of the Theotokos in Blachernae
DESCRIPTION:Saints\, Feasts\, and Readings for 07/02/2025\nSaints and Feasts: Deposition of the Precious Robe of the Theotokos in Blachernae; Synaxis of the Most Holy Theotokos of the Orphan; Juvenal\, Patriarch of Jerusalem; Juvenal the Protomartyr of America & Alaska; John Maximovitch\, Archbishop of Shanghai and San Francisco\nFast Day (Wine and Oil Allowed)\nEpistle Reading: Hebrews 9:1-7\nBRETHREN\, the first covenant had regulations for worship and an earthly sanctuary. For a tent was prepared\, the outer one\, in which were the lampstand and the table and the bread of the Presence; it is called the Holy Place. Behind the second curtain stood a tent called the Holy of Holies\, having the golden altar of incense and the ark of the covenant covered on all sides with gold\, which contained a golden urn holding the manna\, and Aaron’s rod that budded\, and the tables of the covenant; above it were the cherubim of glory overshadowing the mercy seat. Of these things we cannot now speak in detail. These preparations having thus been made\, the priests go continually into the outer tent\, performing their ritual duties; but into the second only the high priest goes\, and he but once a year\, and not without taking blood which he offers for himself and for the errors of the people.\nGospel Reading: Luke 1:39-49\, 56\nIn those days\, Mary arose and went with haste into the hill country\, to a city of Judah\, and she entered the house of Zacharias and greeted Elizabeth. And when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary\, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit and she exclaimed with a loud cry\, “Blessed are you among women\, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! And why is this granted me\, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For behold\, when the voice of your greeting came to my ears\, the babe in my womb leaped for joy. And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what was spoken to her from the Lord.”\n And Mary said\, “My soul magnifies the Lord\, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior\, for he has regarded the low estate of his handmaiden. For behold\, henceforth all generations will call me blessed; for he who is mighty has done great things for me\, and holy is his name.” And Mary remained with her about three months\, and returned to her home.

SUMMARY:Cosmas & Damian the Holy Unmercenaries
DESCRIPTION:Saints\, Feasts\, and Readings for 07/01/2025\nSaints and Feasts: Cosmas & Damian the Holy Unmercenaries; Constantine the New Martyr of Cyprus; Aaron and Julius the Martyrs of Caerelon; Germanus\, Bishop of the Isle of Man\nEpistle Reading: I Corinthians 12:27-31;13:1-8\nBrethren\, you are the body of Christ and individually members of it. And God has appointed in the church first apostles\, second prophets\, third teachers\, then workers of miracles\, then healers\, helpers\, administrators\, speakers in various kinds of tongues. Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles? Do all possess gifts of healing? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret? But earnestly desire the higher gifts. And I will show you a still more excellent way. If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels\, but have not love\, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers\, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge\, and if I have all faith\, so as to remove mountains\, but have not love\, I am nothing. If I give away all I have\, and if I deliver my body to be burned\, but have not love\, I gain nothing. Love is patient and kind; love is not jealous or boastful; it is not arrogant or rude. Love does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrong\, but rejoices in the right. Love bears all things\, believes all things\, hopes all things\, endures all things. Love never ends.\nGospel Reading: Matthew 10:1\, 5-8\nAt that time\, Jesus called to him his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits\, to cast them out\, and to heal every disease and every infirmity. These twelve Jesus sent out\, charging them\, “Go nowhere among the Gentiles\, and enter no town of the Samaritans\, but go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. And preach as you go\, saying\, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Heal the sick\, raise the dead\, cleanse lepers\, cast out demons. You received without paying\, give without pay.”

SUMMARY:Synaxis of the Twelve Holy Apostles
DESCRIPTION:Saints\, Feasts\, and Readings for 06/30/2025\nSaints and Feasts: Synaxis of the Twelve Holy Apostles; Michael the New Martyr of Athens\nEpistle Reading: I Corinthians 4:9-16\nBrethren\, God has exhibited us apostles as last of all\, like men sentenced to death; because we have become a spectacle to the world\, to angels and to men. We are fools for Christ’s sake\, but you are wise in Christ. We are weak\, but you are strong. You are held in honor\, but we in disrepute. To the present hour we hunger and thirst\, we are ill-clad and buffeted and homeless\, and we labor\, working with our own hands. When reviled\, we bless; when persecuted\, we endure; when slandered\, we try to conciliate; we have become\, and are now\, as the refuse of the world\, the off-scouring of all things. I do not write this to make you ashamed\, but to admonish you as my beloved children. For though you have countless guides in Christ\, you do not have many fathers. For I became your father in Christ Jesus through the gospel. I urge you\, then\, be imitators of me.\nGospel Reading: Matthew 9:36\, 10:1-8\nAt that time\, when Jesus saw the crowds\, he had compassion for them\, because they were harassed and helpless\, like sheep without a shepherd. And he called to him his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits\, to cast them out\, and to heal every disease and every infirmity. The names of the twelve apostles are these: first\, Simon\, who is called Peter\, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee\, and John his brother; Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James the son of Alphaios\, and Thaddaios; Simon the Cananaean. and Judas Iscariot\, who betrayed him.

SUMMARY:Peter and Paul\, the Holy Apostles
DESCRIPTION:Saints\, Feasts\, and Readings for 06/29/2025\nSaints and Feasts: Peter and Paul\, the Holy Apostles\nMatins Gospel Reading: Mark 16:9-20\nWhen Jesus rose early on the first day of the week\, He appeared first to Mary Magdalene\, from whom He had cast out seven demons. She went and told those who had been with Him\, as they mourned and wept. But when they heard that He was alive and had been seen by her\, they would not believe it.\nAfter this he appeared in another form to two of them\, as they were walking into the country. And they went back and told the rest\, but they did not believe them. After this He appeared to the eleven themselves as they sat at table and He upbraided them for their unbelief and hardness of heart\, because they had not believed those who saw Him after He had risen. And He said to them\, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to the whole creation. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: in My name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up serpents\, and if they drink any deadly thing\, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick\, and they will recover.”\nSo then the Lord Jesus\, after He had spoken to them\, was taken up into heaven\, and sat down at the right hand of God. And they went forth and preached everywhere\, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the message by the signs that attended it. Amen.\nEpistle Reading: II Corinthians 11:21-33;12:1-9\nBrethren\, whatever anyone dares to boast of — I am speaking as a fool — I also dare to boast of that. Are they Hebrews? So am I. Are they Israelites? So am I. Are they descendants of Abraham? So am I. Are they servants of Christ? I am a better one — I am talking like a madman — with far greater labors\, far more imprisonments\, with countless beatings\, and often near death. Five times I have received at the hands of the Jews the forty lashes less one. Three times I have been beaten with rods; once I was stoned. Three times I have been shipwrecked; a night and a day I have been adrift at sea; on frequent journeys\, in danger from rivers\, danger from robbers\, danger from my own people\, danger from Gentiles\, danger in the city\, danger in the wilderness\, danger at sea\, danger from false brethren; in toil and hardship\, through many a sleepless night\, in hunger and thirst\, often without food\, in cold and exposure. And\, apart from other things\, there is the daily pressure upon me of my anxiety for all the churches. Who is weak\, and I am not weak? Who is made to fall\, and I am not indignant?\nIf I must boast\, I will boast of the things that show my weakness. The God and Father of the Lord Jesus\, he who is blessed for ever\, knows that I do not lie. At Damascus\, the governor under King Aretas guarded the city of Damascus in order to seize me\, but I was let down in a basket through a window in the wall\, and escaped his hands.\nI must boast; there is nothing to be gained by it\, but I will go on to visions and revelations of the Lord. I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago was caught up to the third heaven — whether in the body or out of the body I do not know\, God knows. And I know that this man was caught up into Paradise — whether in the body or out of the body I do not know\, God knows — and he heard things that cannot be told\, which man may not utter. On behalf of this man I will boast\, but on my own behalf I will not boast\, except of my weaknesses. Though if I wish to boast\, I shall not be a fool\, for I shall be speaking the truth. But I refrain from it\, so that no one may think more of me than he sees in me or hears from me. And to keep me from being too elated by the abundance of revelations\, a thorn was given me in the flesh\, a messenger of Satan\, to harass me\, to keep me from being too elated. Three times I besought the Lord about this\, that it should leave me; but he said to me\, “My grace is sufficient for you\, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” I will all the more gladly boast of my weaknesses\, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.\nGospel Reading: Matthew 16:13-19\nAt that time\, when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi\, he asked his disciples\, “Who do men say that the Son of man is?” And they said\, “Some say John the Baptist\, others say Elijah\, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” He said to them\, “But who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter replied\, “You are the Christ\, the Son of the living God.” And Jesus answered him\, “Blessed are you\, Simon Bar Jona! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you\, but my Father who is in heaven. And I tell you\, you are Peter\, and on this rock I will build my church\, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven\, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven\, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”

SUMMARY:🐟 Finding of the Relics of Cyrus and John the Unmercenaries
DESCRIPTION:Saints\, Feasts\, and Readings for 06/28/2025\nSaints and Feasts: Finding of the Relics of Cyrus and John the Unmercenaries; Sergios the Magister; Pappias the Martyr; Righteous Fathers Sergius and Herman\, Founders of Valaam Monastery; Synaxis of the Icon of our Most Holy Lady the Theotokos ; Paul the Physician of Corinth\nFast Day (Fish Allowed)\nEpistle Reading: Romans 3:28-31;4:1-3\nBrethren\, we hold that a man is justified by faith apart from works of law. Or is God the God of Jews only? Is he not the God of Gentiles also? Yes\, of Gentiles also\, since God is one; and he will justify the circumcised on the ground of their faith and the uncircumcised through their faith. Do we then overthrow the law by this faith? By no means! On the contrary\, we uphold the law. What then shall we say about Abraham\, our forefather according to the flesh? For if Abraham was justified by works\, he has something to boast about\, but not before God. For what does the scripture say? “Abraham believed God\, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness.”\nGospel Reading: Matthew 7:24-29; 8:1-4\nThe Lord said\, “Every one who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house upon the rock; and the rain fell\, and the floods came\, and the winds blew and beat upon that house\, but it did not fall\, because it had been founded on the rock. And every one who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house upon the sand; and the rain fell\, and the floods came\, and the winds blew and beat against that house\, and it fell; and great was the fall of it.” And when Jesus finished these sayings\, the crowds were astonished at his teaching\, for he taught them as one who had authority\, and not as their scribes. When he came down from the mountain\, great crowds followed him; and behold\, a leper came to him and knelt before him saying\, “Lord\, if you will\, you can make me clean.” And he stretched out his hand and touched him\, saying\, “I will; be clean.” And immediately his leprosy was cleansed. And Jesus said to him\, “See that you say nothing to any one; but go\, show yourself to the priest\, and offer the gift that Moses commanded\, for a proof to them.”
