Καὶ τοῦτο εἰπών\, ἐπέδειξεν αὐτοῖς τὰς χεῖρας καὶ τοὺς πόδας. Ἐξομολογεῖσθε ἀλλήλοις τὰ παραπτώματα\, καὶ εὔχεσθε ὑπὲρ ἀλλήλων\, ὅπως ἰαθῆτε. Πολὺ ἰσχύει δέησις δικαίου ἐνεργουμένη. Ἠλίας ἄνθρωπος ἦν ὁμοιοπαθὴς ἡμῖν\, καὶ προσευχῇ προσηύξατο τοῦ μὴ βρέξαι· καὶ οὐκ ἔβρεξεν ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς ἐνιαυτοὺς τρεῖς καὶ μῆνας ἕξ. Καὶ πάλιν προσηύξατο\, καὶ ὁ οὐρανὸς ὑετὸν ἔδωκεν\, καὶ ἡ γῆ ἐβλάστησεν τὸν καρπὸν αὐτῆς. But rather I wrote to you not to associate with any one who bears the name of brother if he is guilty of immorality or greed\, or is an idolater\, reviler\, drunkard\, or robber – not even to eat with such a one. For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Is it not those inside the church whom you are to judge? God judges those outside. “Drive out the wicked person from among you.” When one of you has a grievance against a brother\, does he dare go to law before the unrighteous instead of the saints? Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world is to be judged by you\, are you incompetent to try trivial cases? Do you not know that we are to judge angels? How much more\, matters pertaining to this life! If then you have such cases\, why do you lay them before those who are least esteemed by the church? I say this to your shame. Can it be that there is no man among you wise enough to decide between members of the brotherhood\, but brother goes to law against brother and that before unbelievers? To have lawsuits at all with one another is defeat for you. Why not rather suffer wrong? Why not rather be defrauded? But you yourselves wrong and defraud\, and that even your own brethren. Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither the immoral\, nor idolators\, nor adulterers\, nor sexual perverts\, nor thieves\, nor the greedy\, nor drunkards\, nor revilers\, nor robbers will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed\, you were sanctified\, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.\nGospel Reading: Matthew 13:54-58\nAt that time\, Jesus came to his own country\, and taught the people in their synagogue so that they were astonished\, and said\, “Where did this man get this wisdom and these mighty works? Is not this the carpenter’s son? Is not his mother called Mary? And are not his brothers James and Joseph and Simon and Judas? And are not all his sisters with us? Where then did this man get all this?” And they took offense at him. If any woman has a husband who is an unbeliever\, and he consents to live with her\, she should not divorce him. For the unbelieving husband is consecrated through his wife\, and the unbelieving wife is consecrated through her husband. Otherwise\, your children would be unclean\, but as it is they are holy. Now concerning the virgins\, I have no command of the Lord\, but I give my opinion as one who by the Lord’s mercy is trustworthy. I think that in view of the present distress it is well for a person to remain as he is. Are you bound to a wife? Do not seek to be free. Are you free from a wife? Do not seek marriage. But if you marry\, you do not sin\, and if a virgin marries she does not sin. Yet those who marry will have worldly troubles\, and I would spare you that. Ἔτρεχον δὲ οἱ δύο ὁμοῦ· καὶ ὁ ἄλλος μαθητὴς προέδραμε τάχιον τοῦ Πέτρου\, καὶ ἦλθε πρῶτος εἰς τὸ μνημεῖον\, καὶ παρακύψας\, βλέπει κείμενα τὰ ὀθόνια· οὐ μέντοι εἰσῆλθεν. Ἔρχεται οὖν Σίμων Πέτρος ἀκολουθῶν αὐτῷ\, καὶ εἰσῆλθεν εἰς τὸ μνημεῖον\, καὶ θεωρεῖ τὰ ὀθόνια κείμενα· καὶ τὸ σουδάριον\, ὃ ἦν ἐπὶ τῆς κεφαλῆς αὐτοῦ\, οὐ μετὰ τῶν ὀθονίων κείμενον\, ἀλλὰ χωρὶς ἐντετυλιγμένον εἰς ἕνα τόπον. Τότε οὖν εἰσῆλθε καὶ ὁ ἄλλος μαθητὴς ὁ ἐλθὼν πρῶτος εἰς τὸ μνημεῖον\, καὶ εἶδε\, καὶ ἐπίστευσεν. Οὐδέπω γὰρ ᾔδεισαν τὴν Γραφήν\, ὅτι δεῖ αὐτὸν ἐκ νεκρῶν ἀναστῆναι. Ἀπῆλθον οὖν πάλιν πρὸς ἑαυτοὺς οἱ μαθηταί.\nἈνάγνωσις Ἐπιστολῆς: Β’ Τιμ. 2:1-10\nΤέκνον Τιμόθεε\, ἐνδυναμοῦ ἐν τῇ χάριτι τῇ ἐν Χριστῷ Ἰησοῦ. Καὶ ἃ ἤκουσας παρʼ ἐμοῦ διὰ πολλῶν μαρτύρων\, ταῦτα παράθου πιστοῖς ἀνθρώποις\, οἵτινες ἱκανοὶ ἔσονται καὶ ἑτέρους διδάξαι. Σὺ οὖν κακοπάθησον ὡς καλὸς στρατιώτης Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ. Οὐδεὶς στρατευόμενος ἐμπλέκεται ταῖς τοῦ βίου πραγματείαις\, ἵνα τῷ στρατολογήσαντι ἀρέσῃ. Ἐὰν δὲ καὶ ἀθλῇ τις\, οὐ στεφανοῦται ἐὰν μὴ νομίμως ἀθλήσῃ. Τὸν κοπιῶντα γεωργὸν δεῖ πρῶτον τῶν καρπῶν μεταλαμβάνειν. Νόει ἃ λέγω· δῴη γάρ σοι ὁ κύριος σύνεσιν ἐν πᾶσιν. Μνημόνευε Ἰησοῦν Χριστὸν ἐγηγερμένον ἐκ νεκρῶν\, ἐκ σπέρματος Δαυίδ\, κατὰ τὸ εὐαγγέλιόν μου· ἐν ᾧ κακοπαθῶ μέχρι δεσμῶν\, ὡς κακοῦργος· ἀλλʼ ὁ λόγος τοῦ θεοῦ οὐ δέδεται. Διὰ τοῦτο πάντα ὑπομένω διὰ τοὺς ἐκλεκτούς\, ἵνα καὶ αὐτοὶ σωτηρίας τύχωσιν τῆς ἐν Χριστῷ Ἰησοῦ\, μετὰ δόξης αἰωνίου.\nἈνάγνωσις Εὐαγγελίου: Κατὰ Ματθαῖον  9:27-35\nΤῷ καιρῷ ἐκείνῳ\, παράγοντι ἐκεῖθεν τῷ ᾿Ιησοῦ ἠκολούθησαν αὐτῷ δύο τυφλοὶ κράζοντες καὶ λέγοντες· ἐλέησον ἡμᾶς\, υἱὲ Δαυΐδ. ἐλθόντι δὲ εἰς τὴν οἰκίαν προσῆλθον αὐτῷ οἱ τυφλοί\, καὶ λέγει αὐτοῖς ὁ ᾿Ιησοῦς· πιστεύετε ὅτι δύναμαι τοῦτο ποιῆσαι; λέγουσιν αὐτῷ· ναί\, Κύριε. τότε ἥψατο τῶν ὀφθαλμῶν αὐτῶν λέγων· κατὰ τὴν πίστιν ὑμῶν γενηθήτω ὑμῖν. καὶ ἀνεῴχθησαν αὐτῶν οἱ ὀφθαλμοί· καὶ ἐνεβριμήσατο αὐτοῖς ὁ ᾿Ιησοῦς λέγων· ὁρᾶτε μηδεὶς γινωσκέτω. οἱ δὲ ἐξελθόντες διεφήμισαν αὐτὸν ἐν ὅλῃ τῇ γῇ ἐκείνῃ.\nΑὐτῶν δὲ ἐξερχομένων ἰδοὺ προσήνεγκαν αὐτῷ ἄνθρωπον κωφὸν δαιμονιζόμενον· καὶ ἐκβληθέντος τοῦ δαιμονίου ἐλάλησεν ὁ κωφός\, καὶ ἐθαύμασαν οἱ ὄχλοι λέγοντες ὅτι οὐδέποτε ἐφάνη οὕτως ἐν τῷ ᾿Ισραήλ. οἱ δὲ Φαρισαῖοι ἔλεγον· ἐν τῷ ἄρχοντι τῶν δαιμονίων ἐκβάλλει τὰ δαιμόνια.\nΚαὶ περιῆγεν ὁ ᾿Ιησοῦς τὰς πόλεις πάσας καὶ τὰς κώμας διδάσκων ἐν ταῖς συναγωγαῖς αὐτῶν καὶ κηρύσσων τὸ εὐαγγέλιον τῆς βασιλείας καὶ θεραπεύων πᾶσαν νόσον καὶ πᾶσαν μαλακίαν ἐν τῷ λαῷ.

Now these things are warnings for us\, not to desire evil as they did. Do not be idolators as some of them were; as it is written\, “The people sat down to eat and drink and rose up to dance.” We must not indulge in immorality as some of them did\, and twenty-three thousand fell in a single day. We must not put Christ to the test\, as some of them did and were destroyed by the Destroyer. Now these things happened to them as a warning\, but they were written down for our instruction\, upon whom the end of the ages has come. Therefore let any one who thinks that he stands take heed lest he fall.\nGospel Reading: Matthew 16:6-12\nThe Lord said to his disciples\, “Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.” And they discussed it among themselves\, saying\, “We brought no bread.” But Jesus\, aware of this\, said\, “O men of little faith\, why do you discuss among yourselves the fact that you have no bread? Do you not yet perceive? Do you not remember the five loaves of the five thousand\, and how many baskets you gathered? Or the seven loaves of the four thousand\, and how many baskets you gathered? How is it that you fail to perceive that I did not speak about bread? Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.” Then they understood that he did not tell them to beware of the leaven of bread\, but of the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.

Βαρνάβας δὲ ἐβουλεύσατο συμπαραλαβεῖν τὸν Ἰωάννην\, τὸν καλούμενον Μάρκον. Παῦλος δὲ ἠξίου\, τὸν ἀποστάντα ἀπʼ αὐτῶν ἀπὸ Παμφυλίας\, καὶ μὴ συνελθόντα αὐτοῖς εἰς τὸ ἔργον\, μὴ συμπαραλαβεῖν τοῦτον. Ἐγένετο οὖν παροξυσμός\, ὥστε ἀποχωρισθῆναι αὐτοὺς ἀπʼ ἀλλήλων\, τόν τε Βαρνάβαν παραλαβόντα τὸν Μάρκον ἐκπλεῦσαι εἰς Κύπρον· Παῦλος δὲ ἐπιλεξάμενος Σίλαν ἐξῆλθεν\, παραδοθεὶς τῇ χάριτι τοῦ θεοῦ ὑπὸ τῶν ἀδελφῶν. Διήρχετο δὲ τὴν Συρίαν καὶ Κιλικίαν\, ἐπιστηρίζων τὰς ἐκκλησίας.\nἈνάγνωσις Εὐαγγελίου: Κατὰ Ματθαῖον 16:20-24\nΤῷ καιρῷ ἐκείνῳ\, διεστείλατο ὁ Ἰησοῦς τοῖς μαθηταῖς αὐτοῦ ἵνα μηδενὶ εἴπωσιν ὅτι αὐτός ἐστιν ᾿Ιησοῦς ὁ Χριστός. ᾿Απὸ τότε ἤρξατο ὁ ᾿Ιησοῦς δεικνύειν τοῖς μαθηταῖς αὐτοῦ ὅτι δεῖ αὐτὸν ἀπελθεῖν εἰς ῾Ιεροσόλυμα καὶ πολλὰ παθεῖν ἀπὸ τῶν πρεσβυτέρων καὶ ἀρχιερέων καὶ γραμματέων καὶ ἀποκτανθῆναι\, καὶ τῇ τρίτῃ ἡμέρᾳ ἐγερθῆναι. καὶ προσλαβόμενος αὐτὸν ὁ Πέτρος ἤρξατο ἐπιτιμᾶν αὐτῷ λέγων· ἵλεώς σοι\, Κύριε· οὐ μὴ ἔσται σοι τοῦτο. ὁ δὲ στραφεὶς εἶπε τῷ Πέτρῳ· ὕπαγε ὀπίσω μου\, σατανᾶ· σκάνδαλόν μου εἶ· ὅτι οὐ φρονεῖς τὰ τοῦ Θεοῦ\, ἀλλὰ τὰ τῶν ἀνθρώπων. Τότε ὁ ᾿Ιησοῦς εἶπε τοῖς μαθηταῖς αὐτοῦ· εἴ τις θέλει ὀπίσω μου ἐλθεῖν\, ἀπαρνησάσθω ἑαυτὸν καὶ ἀράτω τὸν σταυρὸν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀκολουθείτω μοι.

And there arose a sharp contention\, so that they separated from each other; Barnabas took Mark with him and sailed away to Cyprus\, but Paul chose Silas and departed\, being commended by the brethren to the grace of the Lord. And he went through Syria and Cilicia\, strengthening the churches.\nGospel Reading: Matthew 16:20-24\nAt that time\, Jesus strictly charged the disciples to tell no one that he was the Christ. From that time Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes\, and be killed\, and on the third day be raised. And Peter took him and began to rebuke him\, saying\, “God forbid\, Lord! This shall never happen to you.” But he turned and said to Peter\, “Get behind me\, Satan! For why should my liberty be determined by another man’s scruples? If I partake with thankfulness\, why am I denounced because of that for which I give thanks? So\, whether you eat or drink\, or whatever you do\, do all to the glory of God. For a man ought not to cover his head\, since he is the image and glory of God; but woman is the glory of man.
