Amen.”\nEpistle Reading: Hebrews 9:1-7\nBRETHREN\, the first covenant had regulations for worship and an earthly sanctuary. Behind the second curtain stood a tent called the Holy of Holies\, having the golden altar of incense and the ark of the covenant covered on all sides with gold\, which contained a golden urn holding the manna\, and Aaron’s rod that budded\, and the tables of the covenant; above it were the cherubim of glory overshadowing the mercy seat. Ἐξ αὐτοῦ δὲ ὑμεῖς ἐστε ἐν Χριστῷ Ἰησοῦ\, ὃς ἐγενήθη ἡμῖν σοφία ἀπὸ θεοῦ\, δικαιοσύνη τε καὶ ἁγιασμός\, καὶ ἀπολύτρωσις· ἵνα\, καθὼς γέγραπται\, Ὁ καυχώμενος\, ἐν κυρίῳ καυχάσθω. Κἀγὼ ἐλθὼν πρὸς ὑμᾶς\, ἀδελφοί\, ἦλθον οὐ καθʼ ὑπεροχὴν λόγου ἢ σοφίας καταγγέλλων ὑμῖν τὸ μαρτύριον τοῦ θεοῦ. Οὐ γὰρ ἔκρινα τοῦ εἰδέναι τι ἐν ὑμῖν\, εἰ μὴ Ἰησοῦν Χριστόν\, καὶ τοῦτον ἐσταυρωμένον. Καὶ ἐγὼ ἐν ἀσθενείᾳ καὶ ἐν φόβῳ καὶ ἐν τρόμῳ πολλῷ ἐγενόμην πρὸς ὑμᾶς. Καὶ ὁ λόγος μου καὶ τὸ κήρυγμά μου οὐκ ἐν πειθοῖς ἀνθρωπίνης σοφίας λόγοις\, ἀλλʼ ἐν ἀποδείξει πνεύματος καὶ δυνάμεως· ἵνα ἡ πίστις ὑμῶν μὴ ᾖ ἐν σοφίᾳ ἀνθρώπων\, ἀλλʼ ἐν δυνάμει θεοῦ.\nἈνάγνωσις Εὐαγγελίου: Κατὰ Ματθαῖον 20:29-34\nΤῷ καιρῷ ἐκείνῳ\, ἐκπορευομένων αὐτῶν ἀπὸ ῾Ιεριχὼ ἠκολούθησεν αὐτῷ ὄχλος πολύς. καὶ ἰδοὺ δύο τυφλοὶ καθήμενοι παρὰ τὴν ὁδόν\, ἀκούσαντες ὅτι ᾿Ιησοῦς παράγει\, ἔκραξαν λέγοντες· ἐλέησον ἡμᾶς\, Κύριε\, υἱὸς Δαυΐδ. ὁ δὲ ὄχλος ἐπετίμησεν αὐτοῖς ἵνα σιωπήσωσιν· οἱ δὲ μεῖζον ἔκραζον λέγοντες· ἐλέησον ἡμᾶς\, Κύριε\, υἱὸς Δαυΐδ. καὶ στὰς ὁ ᾿Ιησοῦς ἐφώνησεν αὐτοὺς καὶ εἶπε· τί θέλετε ποιήσω ὑμῖν; λέγουσιν αὐτῷ· Κύριε\, ἵνα ἀνοιχθῶσιν ἡμῶν οἱ ὀφθαλμοί. σπλαγχνισθεὶς δὲ ὁ ᾿Ιησοῦς ἥψατο τῶν ὀφθαλμῶν αὐτῶν\, καὶ εὐθέως ἀνέβλεψαν αὐτῶν οἱ ὀφθαλμοί\, καὶ ἠκολούθησαν αὐτῷ.

And immediately the king sent a soldier of the guard and gave orders to bring his head. He went and beheaded him in the prison\, and brought his head on a platter\, and gave it to the girl; and the girl gave it to her mother. When his disciples heard of it\, they came and took his body\, and laid it in a tomb. The apostles returned to Jesus\, and told him all that they had done and taught.
