Greek Landing Day in America

June 26, 1768.
This historic date commemorates the arrival of 500 Greeks who contracted to work in the New World, with British emissary, Dr. Andrew Turnbull. They were part of the largest British colonization in the New World. Their arrival is documented in the St. Augustine Historical Society Library, the archaeological remains of their settlement/indigo plantation are found in New Smyrna Beach, Florida.
